Biography
//the person
I firmly believe that the most important aspect of one’s personality is how genuine they really are, and that’s a given for many. What I like to think distinguishes myself from others though is my ruthless attitude to getting it right. Whether that’s long hours in a humid office or taking the right turn on a mountain with the weather closing in, I am one-hundred percent committed to getting it right…
I like to apply these principles to my role as Editor-in-Chief at Impact Magazine, published by The University of Nottingham Students’ Union. I’m the first editor to take a year out of my studies to focus on pushing forward our mission to the 36000 students at The University of Nottingham. But what about the results? So far at Impact we’ve seen vastly increased participation and a whole raft of new-media being incorporated onto our website. We’ve had many exclusive scoops, but the most impressive development has been nearly 30,000 online views of our latest magazine. It really is the results that matter.
As well as Impact, I am heavily involved with the Environmental Science Society which runs projects funded by Nottingham City Council to raise awareness about recycling and energy saving. Last summer I interned at a Marketing Agency, Stafford Long, where I worked on material for Barclays Capital and Grant Thornton. In May I’ll be working at TBWA in London and at several national newspapers in the summer.
In addition I have also interned and been published in The Independent and in younger days, I secured funding from the Evening Standard to produce a small scale magazine called ‘In the Black’ for my secondary school, this was the start of my media fascination. Last year Tourism Australia invited me on an all-expenses paid press-trip which was ahem…epic.
Scouting is also a large part of my life, having been selected to represent the United Kingdom at an International humanitarian aid conference in Dubai as a result of my experiences in building a refuge centre in the Tsunami hit area of the Andaman Islands. I can often be found going camping for the weekend- it’s essential to have a break.

Among other skills i am fully compliant with:
Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Final Cut Pro, Indesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Please see my work section for full details and examples.
//the education
I am currently studying Environmental Science at the University of Nottingham. Although my degree is largely scientific, the overwhelming advantage of Environmental Science is that it allows me to understand climate change from a clear perspective.
I also attended Dame Alice Owen’s School in Potters Bar, a sought-after school in Hertfordshire.
